Australia-Japan Foundation: Symposium held on October 29

With sponsorship from the Australia-Japan Foundation, the Graduate School has convened a symposium on 29 October. The event was opened by Professor Ryuhei Wakasugi, the university president, and Ms Melanie Calvert from the Australian Embassy. At the symposium, Griffith University’s Professor Kai He gave a presentation on dynamic regional security governance while Professor Shahar Hameiri from the University of Queensland spoke on the effect of state transformation on China’s development financing. They were joined by a number of panelists, including Professor Giorgio Shani from Tokyo’s International Christian University, Professor Hiro Katsumata, Tohoku University; and Professors Yuichi Kubota and Takeshi Uemura, our Graduate School. The symposium was followed by a round-table session which was chaired by Professor Yoshinobu Yamamoto, dean of the Graduate School.
